Our (proposed) focus is to "work to educate, facilitate and link Transition Initiatives within Humboldt Co., California. Our goals are linked to the International Transition Movement addressing building resilient communities in the face of future climatic, economic and energy instability. We are an action-oriented group consisting of working groups focusing on specific actions we can take as community members to help build self-reliant communities."
We have started a Facebook organizational page
and a Facebook Group discussion
page. I encourage you to check these out and join in the discussion and "Like" us on Facebook. As with all things, we are only as strong and diverse as our membership, so an initial membership meeting has been scheduled for Dec. 9th at 4 PM at The Link (1385 8th Street, Arcata). All the contact info can be found on our Facebook event page
(please sign up if you wish to attend). We will be discussing our organizational structure, decision-making process and formation of working groups. This is an action-oriented group and we plan to develop projects and activities to help build resilient and sustainable communities. We are all about the LOCALIZATION movement and encourage you to form working groups within your neighborhoods and towns (and we'll help with that as part of our mission).
